The Cost Coalition endorsed Spanberger in October, as reported by Bloomberg News. Former George W. Bush and Boehner spokesperson Terry Holt and former Biden spokesperson Andrew Bates released the following statement congratulating Spanberger:
“By actually listening to voters about their top priority - costs - Abigail Spanberger did what Washington failed to do. Spanberger put Virginians’ pocket books and Virginia’s economy above politics, standing against tariffs, unprecedented health care and energy cuts, and tax breaks for the rich that are adding trillions to the national debt.
“Spanberger also showed concrete plans for how she’d fight to make life more affordable, from jump-starting energy production to housing construction.
“Spanberger’s opponent, Winsome Earle-Sears, chose Washington’s cost-raising agenda even as it made everything from groceries to utility bills more expensive. And she doubled down even as federal workers and the rule of law itself were sold out.
“That’s why the bipartisan Cost Coalition endorsed Spanberger last month.
“Abigail Spanberger’s decisive win is a wake-up call for Washington. Tomorrow, the Supreme Court hears a challenge brought by states all over the country against the tariffs that are now the biggest tax increase on working people in American history. Voters were promised lower costs, but they got more inflation instead. Unless members of Congress are willing to lead and oppose the tariffs, record-breaking health care cuts, and corruption and chaos, they’ll be fired next year.”
