Cost Coalition Advisers Terry Holt, a Republican, and Andrew Bates, a Democrat released the following statement on new data from the nonpartisan think tank Energy Innovation showing the economic costs of the “Big Beautiful Bill Act”:
“In what world is it anything but self-sabotage to shrink our economy, kill jobs, shut down manufacturing, and raise energy bills - all to grow our debt with tax breaks for rich special interests? Not a single American outside Washington DC would call it “beautiful” to raise energy costs by $170 billion, erase over 1 million jobs, or slash GDP growth by over $1 trillion. Even House Republicans who voted for this legislation are now publicly warning against its energy policies. The losers from this will be millions of Republicans, Democrats, and independents all over the country - while the only winners will be billionaires and China. No Senator has an excuse to ignore the choice between Trumpflation and their constituents.”
Terry Holt is a former spokesperson for President George W. Bush and House Speaker John Boehner.
Andrew Bates was Senior Deputy White House Press Secretary under Joe Biden.
