Cost Coalition Advisers Terry Holt, a Republican, and Andrew Bates, a Democrat, released the following statement after the Trump Administration announced a new wave of tariff hikes:
“While Washington and Wall Street hem and haw about this new wave of inflationary tariffs, Main Street is bracing for higher prices on goods and services the American people use every day. Donald Trump and congressional Republicans promised to make life more affordable, but for average working Americans struggling to get by, the tariffs are a budget-busting tax that threatens to pull the American Dream even more out of reach. Republicans and Democrats need to stand up against this selling out of the American economy - their constituents’ livelihoods depend on it, and they will be held accountable at the ballot box in the midterms.”
The Cost Coalition, a bipartisan group launched in May, is dedicated to restoring the promise of the American Dream and fighting for the economic interests of middle class families.
